BORING HOLIDAY

posted Jan 5th 1946

from Roy and Trigger Rogers   tonto@aol.com

Dear Club Select, we wish to complain about our recent holiday you arranged for us in the Maldives. We know it was very inexpensive the whole holiday costing us only £99.10s 6d for 3 weeks all inclusive, and we had a beautiful self-contained villa on stilts set on a wonderful white beach surrounded by tropical palms, but there was ABSOLUTELY NO Entertainment whatsoever, no Discos, No Bingo in the nearby witch doctors hut (the local watering hole) and no newspapers or television. In future please book us back into your Resort in Blackpool

HOTEL SERVICES

from Bert and Sue Smith   c.asmuck@aol.com

Dear Club Select Holidays, I must write in the most strongest terms to complain at the level of hotel service we received whilst staying at Natura Palace in Lanzarote, a holiday that you recommended. This was our first experience of hotel holidays and we thought that by booking a 4 star we wouldn't have to dress up and the likes.

It all started to go wrong, the moment we arrived. A porter (who was dressed smarter than us) insisted on carrying our cases, we are normally used to doing that ourselves, he then showed us into the room, we were shocked, it was bigger than our bungalow at home , and, worse than that we didn't need all the things Sue had packed, like the iron, the hairdryer  the stereo and the TV with satellite system..........you could have told us.

The staff were really troublesome, we didn't need our beach towels, the hotel provided them, and when we were sitting round the pool if you just moved, a waiter was rushing over to get your drinks order. This type of interference happened all the time, in the restaurant they were clearing the tables, bringing you cutlery asking if you were all right continuously, and the choice of food on the buffet was ridiculously large, I mean who wants caviar or 20 different choices of fruit juice for Breakfast?  cornflakes and orange juice would suffice, ..and at the evening meal the head waiter was most upset when Sue tried to do the washing up.

I Hope that on our next holiday people will all leave us alone and we can then get on with having a PROPER HOLIDAY.

AIRCRAFT COMFORT

from Orville and wright   spinit@aol.com
Dear Club Select, only a small complaint, we know you are not responsible for the flights only that you find us cheap seats, and they are not your aircraft. However we were disappointed when we reserved our seat numbers 3 months beforehand (at no extra cost) we got on the plane and we were right up the front with nobody (apart from the pilot) ahead of us, we do realise we had the most legroom on the plane but we do not like the front, much prefer the back, (planes don't reverse into mountains) we suggest that next time we give you such long notice, you get British Airways to change the seats to the back, I could have done this if they lent me a spanner and some welding equipment

Dear Club Select Holidays

We are so upset the way you misled us, and at the attitude of your office staff. When we joined your club your rep promised us the sun would shine at least 10 hours a day whilst we are on holidays with Club Select. The first few holidays , to the Canary Isles, Bali, Isla Mujeres Mexico, were great, we even had more than our allotted 10 hours per day,  We were thinking of upgrading to your 14 hours a day pack!,  but after our last holiday to Aviemore in Scotland over the Christmas period, it rained 3 of our 14 days and snowed for 6, so even if we averaged it out, to be fair to you, we still received only 6 hours per day!. the worst part was, we were going to write this off to experience, because we were really in surplus from our other holidays and you had not charged us, BUT when we rang your complaints dept we were told that the sun was shining, but behind the clouds!!!

What cheek! .....  we have terminated our membership and are returning to Aviemore privately.

City Breaks Inclusive RIP OFF

Dear BL**dy Club select holidays.

Thanks a lot for our all inclusive holiday !!!

We spent 14 days at Varadero in Cuba , the weather was fine, the resort superb  the entertainment brilliant!, but the food and drink ...there was too much. We selected an all-inclusive holiday  to save money but since we have got back it has cost us fortunes, in fact more than the £1262 we paid for our family of four. I have had to buy a complete new wardrobe for Dan he ate so much, as well as the boys. the new school uniforms we bought before the holidays will not fit them as they have each grown an average of 2 inches, must have been the healthy fresh air...you did not warn us about that. On top of this I now have to travel to Alcoholics Anonymous twice a week because I got addicted to the Cuban rum they gave us free all day long, this wouldn't be so bad but the meeting hall is 50 miles away and I have to take a Taxi because we can no longer fit into our Reliant Robin...all I can say is never again!!!!

Foreign Language!

Dear Club Select. We thought we should post this warning to other members.

You might think we are being silly, but it happened to us. Mary and I spent a whole year learning Spanish with private tuition, etc; because we had booked a holiday to  the Madeira Regency hotel with your company. We thought all the islands in the Atlantic were Spanish and were disgusted to  find that they spoke Portuguese!!!! a whole year down the drain, when we book a holiday in future, please ask them to say...and they speak.******* in that country.

(by the way they spoke English as well)

Cheap Flights

posted July 4th 1982

from John & Mary Doe  DOA@aol.com
Dear club select holidays,

when we joined the club we were told that when we booked plane tickets nobody on the plane would have paid less than us at time of booking. Imagine our disgust  when we found that there were 5 people who had paid NOTHING !!!!    in fact they were being paid to fly, I think these people should not be allowed on our next flight, one of them even asked me to call him captain the cheek of it!.

Please remedy this situation , or refund the £85 first class ticket price I paid in good faith to you for my Australia trip.

You call it a CRUISE!

Dear all.

well, call it a cruise, your rep convinced us to take a 14 day cruise on the Oriana as listed in your cruise specials, lovely ship, wonderful food, but it kept stopping, we stopped at about 10 different places, this wasn't a cruise it was a visiting trip, the last cruise I took I hardly stopped at all, and it took a lot longer than 14 days. next time I will book the Round the world cruise which is listed in the brochure at £42000, what discount will I get if I sail the Oriana myself?

DISCOUNT CAR-HIRE

from mercedes K.A Ford   ABS@aol.com
Dear Club Select, just a short note .

My wife and I think we were a little misled with your car hire offer.

We arrive at Lanzarote airport, and sure enough waiting for us was a brand new Opel Corsa for only £69  for 7 days hire. When we booked this we asked if everything was included, insurance etc, we were told on numerous occasions YES YES YES. you can appreciate our disappointment when we found we not only had to put petrol in but PAY for it as well, at £1.40 a gallon it added considerably to the expected cost of our holiday. we await your presence in the small claims court, and have written to Watchdog complaining.
